What We Can Insure

Mexico Auto Insurance

We help visitors from the U.S. and Canada get the Mexican auto liability coverage required by law, with options to add full coverage for damage and theft. Policies can include coverage for everyone riding in your vehicle and extras like roadside and travel assistance, so you’re never on your own if something goes wrong.

RV & Travel Trailer Insurance

Bringing your home on wheels? We offer coverage for motorhomes, camper vans, and travel trailers at competitive rates. Enjoy the beaches, mountains, and small towns knowing your RV has the right protection while you’re in Mexico.

Motorcycle, ATV's, UTV's & Towed Units Insurance

If you’re riding the Baja on two wheels or need coverage on your four wheelers while exploring, we can set you up with policies that include high liability limits and optional full coverage.

Why You Need Mexico Tourist Auto Insurance

Mexican law requires foreign-plated vehicles to have liability insurance issued by a Mexican insurer. U.S. and Canadian auto policies are not accepted by Mexican authorities as proof of liability coverage.

If you’re involved in an accident, you could be held responsible for:

  • Damage to other vehicles or property
  • Medical expenses for injured people
  • Legal and court costs

Without valid Mexican insurance, you may have to prove on the spot that you can pay for damages and authorities can detain you or impound your vehicle until you do.

Wolf Insurance Services works with Mexican insurers so you can meet legal requirements and travel with peace of mind.

Temporary Vehicle Import Permit (TIP)

Depending on where you’re driving, you might also need a Temporary Vehicle Importation Permit (TIP) from Banjercito, the Mexican government bank. This is required if you:

  • Are visiting Mexico with a Tourist Visa or as a temporary resident or student, and
  • Plan to travel beyond the border “Free Zone” and certain designated areas.

You can usually get a TIP:

We can’t issue the permit for you, but we can point you to the right resources and remind you what documents you’ll typically need (passport, registration, proof of ownership and more).

Quick FAQ

Will my U.S. or Canadian policy cover me in Mexico?

In almost all cases, no. Your home policy might offer very limited protection close to the border, but Mexican law still requires liability insurance from a Mexican insurer.

Do I have to buy insurance once I’m already in Mexico?

It’s smarter to buy before you go. That way you’re covered as soon as you cross the border and you can choose an English-language policy with bilingual claims support and bail bond assistance.

What kind of Mexican companies does Wolf Insurance Services work with?

We partner with long-standing, financially solid Mexican insurers that focus on serving international travelers and have good reputations for paying claims.

How will I receive my policy?

After purchase, you’ll receive your policy and instructions by email and or Whatsapp including phone numbers so you know what to do if you’re pulled over or involved in an accident in Mexico.
